Wine Making is considered an art form by thousand’s of people across the globe. An art form that can trace it’s roots back to 4000BC, a time with limited technology and resources. But that has not stopped or hindered today’s connoisseurs of the bottle, who year after year are able to provide us with that elegant glass of liquor that set’s atop our dinner tables.

Although today’s technology has allowed for mass production of wine on a global scale, many of the original concepts of Wine Making are still in use today. With thousand’s of varieties grape’s and types of wine, the literal possibilities seem endless. All of this aside, just like in times of old, the process still begins the same. And that amongst all other obstacles, is choosing the proper grape to plant and time to harvest. Of these decisions the wine maker must consider the area in which he is growing, as well as favorable or unfavorable weather conditions that could have a serious detrimental impact on his finished product. For this is a wine maker’s job, the initial stages if not completed correctly, could mean months of work down the drain after the wine ferment’s and is properly aged.

With thousand’s of varieties of wine alone, wine maker’s have quite a challenge keeping up with demand. Worldwide, there are tens of millions of acres dedicated to wine vineyards and that number grows every single year. Hungary Holds More Wine Tradition

Despite what many may think, the area known as Hungary holds more wine tradition than any other country in Europe.  Most of this very tradition is just now surfacing in the light, with people finally starting to catch wind about everything Hungarian wine has to offer. Even though many wine drinkers aren’t familiar with Hungary - there are many who are.

The Art Of Wine Tasting

Going to a wine tasting party can be a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone. However, most people don’t attend because they have fear about not knowing how to act in such parties and afraid that they will offend someone or be embarrassed by not knowing how to taste wine.

Basically, the basics of wine tasting are actually quite simple. You don’t need to have formal training and everyone can do it. The first step in tasting wine is by taking a look at its color. The glasses served should always be clean and clear in order for you take a good look at the wine. The tables should be covered with white linen table cloth in order for you to see the wine’s color more clearly. You have to remember that white wines aren’t always white. It may have a yellow, green and even brown color. For red wines, you will observe that it also has different shades of red. The lighter the color of the red wine is, the older it is.

The color of the wine will also indicate the age or the flavor. Try doing a rim test to look at the color of the wine. Just tilt the glass and look at the wine. If it is purplish in color, it indicates that the wine is young. If it is brownish, it means that it is an older wine.

The next step is to smell the wine. Swirl the wine around the glass to expose the wine to the air, position the glass close to your nose and inhale deeply. Swirling also releases the flavor of the wine. You have to remember that the wine may have been in the bottle for six months to many, many years. By swirling the wine, you will release the flavors. It’s like cooking at home where you stir the food in order for you to blend the flavor.

Finally, you now need to taste the wine properly. Don’t gulp the wine down. Just take small sips and roll the wine around your tongue. You should keep in mind that there are three steps in order to take the real taste of the wine, these are the first impression, the taste and the aftertaste.

The Cause For Hangovers Is Unknown

A hangover is something that just about all of us have experienced at some point in time.  After spending a night out drinking, you may wake up in the morning with your head feeling heavy and your stomach in knots.  At that moment, you probably decided that you would quit drinking, to prevent this awful feeling from happening again.  No matter how hard you may have tried though, chances are that it happened again.

Even though we all know that alcohol can lead to hangovers, the cause of a hangover is something we don’t know.  Alcohol does have some positive effects on the body, although it can also lead to negative effects such as hangovers.  Some doctors will actually recommend it, while others will tell you never to drink it.  Even though drinking is good, moderation is the key.  The easiest way to avoid hangovers is to drink in moderation - and never get drunk.

As many of us already know, whisky, bourbon, and wine can result in a much harder hangover than vodka or beer.  For many people, chemicals in wines or yeast found in unfiltered beers can result in headaches.  Beer, wine, and liquor can be fun and relaxing to drink, although if you aren’t careful you can easily get a headache or a hangover.

Even though the cause for hangovers is unknown, it has been proven that the headaches associated with hangovers stem from dehydration.With alcohol being a diuretic, it will make you urinate quite often.  Therefore, if you drink alcohol or beer on a daily basis, your body will remain dehydrated.  When you wake up in the morning with a bad headache and turn to coffee, which is also a diuretic, the process of dehydration actually gets worse.

Although a hangover can be a bit of a pain, it can be prevented.  The first rule of drinking any type of alcoholic beverage is to never drink on an empty stomach.  If you eat a good meal before you start drinking, you’ll find that the food can help you digest the alcohol much better.While the alcohol begins to attack your stomach, you should think of eating foods that are high in fat, like cheese.  You can also sip some olive oil or drink some water.  The secret to making sure that you don’t get a hangover when drinking is to drink in moderation and never let yourself get too drunk.
